m-Phenylenediamine
Properties:
Melting point: 63-65 ºc
Boiling Point: 282-284 ºc
Flash Point: 175 ºc
Water solubility: 350 g/l (25 ºc)
Appearance: Isophthalamide is a white to light yellow crystalline or powdery solid.
Solubility: Isophthalamide is less soluble in water and soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols and ethers.
Uses:
Dyes: As a dye intermediate, it can be used in the synthesis of herbicide, synthetic fiber dyes.
Catalyst for chemical reaction: It can be used as a catalyst for oxidation, reduction or coupling reaction of aromatic hydrocarbon derivatives.
Method of Preparation:
Preparation from benzene peroxide: Isophthaline can be obtained by reducing benzene peroxide.
From the reduction of p-nitrobenzene: Isophthalimide can be obtained by reducing p-nitrobenzene by heating and using a suitable catalyst.
Safety Information
Toxicity: Isophthaline is toxic and may cause irritation and damage to the human body on contact. It needs to be used and stored correctly, avoiding direct contact with skin, eyes and inhalation.
Ignitability: Resorcinol is a fire hazard, store and use away from ignition sources and oxygen.
TOXICOLOGY: Animal studies have shown that m-phenylenediamine may cause chronic toxicity and teratogenicity in living organisms, and long-term exposure and excessive contact should be avoided.
