Phenyl dichlorophosphine is a colourless to light yellow oily liquid.
Its relative molecular mass is 170.98 g/mol. 3.
It has good solubility in common organic solvents, such as ethanol, ether and chloroform.
It can be relatively stable under conventional storage conditions, but decomposition reactions may occur under high temperature, sunlight irradiation, and acidic conditions.
Phenyl dichlorophosphine is toxic and should be handled and stored with care.
Applications
Dichlorophenylphosphine (DCPP) is one of the most important monomers for the synthesis of various aromatic organophosphorus compounds.
It is also an intermediate in the preparation of pesticides, plasticisers, nylon stabilisers, dyes and photopolymer photoinitiators.
Among them, the phosphorus-based reactive flame retardant prepared from DCPP is widely used in polyester resin to prepare permanent flame retardant products. With the development of polymeric organophosphorus flame retardant, phenyl dichlorophosphine is further used as one of the intermediates for flame retardant polyester.
Preparation method
The preparation of phenyl dichlorophosphine usually involves the reaction of benzene and phosphorus chloride.
A common preparation method is to react phenyltrichlorophosphine with excess benzene, and after removing the hydrogen chloride under appropriate conditions, phenyl dichlorophosphine can be obtained.
Safety Information
Wear chemical protective gloves, goggles and protective clothing when working with phenyl dichlorophosphine. Avoid skin contact and inhalation. Care should be taken when handling to avoid contact with oxidising agents, acids or bases to prevent dangerous reactions. Care should be taken to avoid contact with other flammable substances during storage to avoid fire or explosion.
