It is soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, ketones and aromatics, but insoluble in water.
Applications
As a catalyst for organic synthesis, to promote polymerization reaction and ester exchange reaction.
Used as catalyst and stabilizer for polyester and polyurethane.
Used as curing agent for vulcanized rubber.
Used as a flame retardant in polymer processing.
Preparation method
Dibutyltin dilaurate is usually produced by reacting dilauric acid with dibutyltin oxide.
