Preparation method

Methacrylic acid and isobutyl alcohol in the sulfuric acid catalysed esterification generated, and then distilled to finished products. Methacrylic acid is produced from acetone cyanohydrin as raw material.

Uses

1. Isobutyl methacrylate is a monomer for organic synthesis and is used in synthetic resins, plastics, coatings, printing inks, adhesives, lubricant additives, dental materials, fibre treatments, and paper finishing agents.

2. As a monomer for organic synthesis, it is used in synthetic resins, plastics and coatings.

Safety Information

Isobutyl methacrylate is irritating and may irritate the skin, eyes and respiratory tract on contact. Appropriate personal protective measures should be taken when using it.

Contact with strong oxidising agents, acids or bases should be avoided to prevent dangerous reactions.

Avoid prolonged or heavy inhalation, which may cause damage to the respiratory system.

Packed in galvanised iron drums. Store in a cool place at <10°C. Pay attention to fire prevention.

Long-term storage and transport need to add polymerisation inhibitor hydroquinone 0.06%～0.1%. Ship according to flammable chemicals regulations.
